A Little Introduction
Hey, I'm Nat, a 20-something Zoologist turned pharmaceutical manufacturer living life on the road in my trusty campervan. I created Explore by Nature to document all things travel & nature-related. Join me as I explore the wild, conquer mountains, and share the beauty of nature, one blog post at a time.
Growing up in a small village in the countryside of Northern England, adventure has always had a place in my heart, but it wasn't until university that my love of travel was forged. In 2015, I ventured south to the stunning coast of Cornwall, where I pursued a degree in Zoology. It was here that I cultivated a profound appreciation of wildlife, travel, and the intricate ecosystems that sustain our planet. For a quick dive into my master's research, check out our published paper!
Today, my life is a beautiful blend of science and exploration. I work full-time as a pharmaceutical manufacturer and embark on thrilling adventures in my converted Peugeot Boxer, Phoebe. Living full-time in a campervan allows me to embrace the freedom of the great outdoors all in the comfort of my own home. Being part of a close-knit family, taking care of a small holding of farm animals and working full-time (non-remote), means I spend a lot of valued time in one spot, making my life the perfect balance of adventure and a sense of home.
Through my writing and photography, I aim to inspire others to break free from the ordinary and step into the extraordinary. Whether it's climbing majestic mountains, witnessing the awe-inspiring beauty of wildlife, or simply immersing oneself in the serene embrace of nature, I believe that every adventure holds the potential to transform us. Join me as I share my journey both close to home and across the planet, each post a reminder that the world is full of wonders waiting to be discovered.
Let's explore by nature together and create memories that will last a lifetime!
my current obsessions

Mountain Treks
I climbed my first ever mountain in 2016, tackling Africa's highest peak, Mt. Kilimanjaro. It was the most incredible experience of my life. But I have a habit of postponing life for one reason or another and I never got round to climbing a second mountain until 2022. I've since completed the Yorkshire 3 peaks, the UK 3 peaks, the Moroccan 3 peaks, and Ireland's tallest mountain. I've got a long, long list of mountains I want to complete and I can't wait to take on these challenges.

Photography
Since I was a teenager, I've enjoyed photography. From getting my first ever Nikon camera from my mam for my birthday to upgrading that camera to the Nikon I owned for 10+ years. In 2024, I finally took the very expensive plunge and purchased a Canon EOS R7. Now, I'm saving up for some great lenses to pursue the world of landscape & wildlife photography.
